Welcome to the second week of WEP!

This week, we invite you to attend five keynote lectures where we will discuss health policy, bioengineering, medicine, AI, and entrepreneurship with international experts in their fields.We have also planned an exciting science show, film screenings and discussions with scientific experts, a panel discussion as part of the KAUST Research Conference Digital Health 2020healthy food discussions and the annual farmers market. Finally, we will celebrate on Thursday the end of WEP 2020 at the final gala and awards ceremony with two exciting musical performances by A Capella Science and Artie’s. 

KEYNOTE LECTURES

Precision Medicine: Opportunities and Challenges

A keynote lecture by Rifat Atun, Professor of Global Health Systems at Harvard University. Professor Atun has advised over 30 governments as well as the World Bank or WHO to design, implement and evaluate health system reform initiatives. Moreover, he recently contributed to the G20 Health Working Group hosted by Saudi Arabia.

Personalized Medicine: From Science Fiction to Science Fact

A keynote lecture by Elsa Sotiriadis, aka ‘The Biofuturist.’ Are we already living in a science fiction-inspired future? The future is already here: Explore in this lecture how science fiction has shaped technology, how biology became an information technology and how it transforms our future, from our daily lives to personalized medicine.

Digital Health Panel Discussion

During this interactive panel discussion moderated by. Prof. Takashi Gojobori, and co-moderated by Dr. Fadwa Attiga, you will be able to exchange ideas on innovation, technology and the future of medicine with in-Kingdom experts and leaders in their fields.

Dr. Bunhead follows the history of 35 trillion cells made from 7 octillion atoms harvested from millions of stars across our galaxy that will be working together to give this talk.
