International Day of Persons with Disabilities

December 3rd marks the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) to increase awareness, understanding, and inclusion of people with disabilities.

The theme for 2022 is: “Transformative solutions for inclusive development: The role of innovation in fueling an accessible and equitable world.”

It is essential to highlight that having a disability does not reflect or define capability, and not all disabilities are visible.

Building an inclusive community is a role in which every one of us can participate. In fact, instead of the term disability, we should talk about diversity, as this stands for variety. Every human brings a certain level of diversity which makes them unique!

On this day, Student Counseling Services (SCS) and Access-Ability Services (AAS) invite you to celebrate and appreciate the diversities, potential, abilities, and uniqueness of people around you.
