KAUST is committed to providing a safe and healthy work environment for all members of the community. We’d like to remind everyone that smoking, including electronic cigarettes and other vaping devices, is prohibited on all university premises except in designated smoking areas and private residences.

As such, individuals should not have lighted cigars, cigarettes, pipes, electronic cigarettes or other vaping devices in any area of the academic campus except in the designated locations. This restriction applies to areas such as all indoor facilities, academic building balconies, bus stops and all University-owned vehicles.

Trying to quit?

KAUST is committed to supporting individuals who wish to stop smoking. Individuals can access support for quitting smoking through family medicine at KAUST Health. The Employee Wellbeing Program (Lyra) also offers a range of resources that you may also find useful.

We appreciate your awareness as the success of a non-smoking policy depends on thoughtful community citizenship, consideration, and cooperation of smokers and non-smokers alike.

KAUST supports the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 Quality of Life Program and strategic tobacco control plan which aims to reduce smoking rates from 12.7% to 5% by 2030 in addition to UN Sustainable Development Goal 3: Good health and well-being
