WEP 2021—Today’s the Opening Day!

We are thrilled to announce that WEP 2021 is ready to kick off for an audience of over 20,000 people during two exciting weeks of ‘Connectivity’ produced by KAUST.

You will join over 450 university students from KAUST and the Kingdom, the KAUST community, invited guests from university partners and industry, over 70 speakers from all over the world, and online viewers.


Anyone can enjoy the WEP2021 experience from the Kingdom and beyond!

Join us live on Facebook or YouTube for the opening event of #WEP2021.
The ceremony will be kicked off by Dr. Tony Chan, our President, Professor Khaled N. Salama (WEP Chair) and Distinguished Professor Yves Gnanou who will share the screen to give the welcoming address. H.E. Eng. Abdullah Al-Swaha–Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology–will follow by addressing the opening remarks of WEP.

The Opening Day will be followed by ‘Connecting KAUST at the speed of Science’ by Jason Roos and lectures about the recent telecommunications research at KAUST. Watch “6G: Towards a More Connected and Sustainable World” by Distinguished Professor Mohamed-Slim Alouini and Professor Boon S. Ooi’s “Underwater Wireless Optical Communication.”
