Effective July 5, 2020 the University Library will partially reopen. Access to the Library is limited to KAUST graduate students, postdocs and faculty members from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Sunday to Thursday. The Library will remain closed at all other times including on weekends and public holidays. All other KAUST community members, including TKS students will not be allowed to access the Library during this phase.

Visitors need to register their preferred seat for study by providing their KAUST email address and ID and need to check-in at the entrance through the face-recognition kiosk. A confirmed seat registration will be mandatory and no walk-ins will be allowed. The entrance to the Library will be controlled via Level two from the Campus Spine, and access via Level zero will be closed.

During this phase, 88 seats will be provided for quiet study. Group discussions, meetings, and gatherings will not be allowed. The meeting rooms, group study rooms, and social locations will remain closed. Please wear a face mask at all times, keep physical distancing of two meters, maintain silence and strictly follow the Keep KAUST Safe guidelines.

Print books can be collected. Please request books via the Library catalog using the hold function. Books can be returned during normal opening hours.

During lockdown we have observed increased usage of the library’s online collection (which represents 99% of the total collection), of online trainings, and other digital services. We encourage everyone to continue to access them via the Library website.

Please also note:

  • The print and stationery store is open from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Sunday to Thursday and accessible through the Level zero entrance close to the Campus Diner
  • The Library Café will reopen soon for take-away orders only
