Don’t wait for the Opening Night on Sunday to dive into our tasty “Food for All” program. This year’s Enrichment in the Fall program starts this Friday, October 14, with a cooking show and great movies that will inform and entertain you at the same time.
Friday, October 14
4:00 p.m.: “Just Eat It” will change the way you look at food, raising the issue of waste from farm through retail and all the way to the back of the fridge. The screening features the launch of the KAUST Food Waste Campaign led and organized in collaboration with the Student Green Group. The group will engage with community members during the Enrichment week.
8:00 p.m.: “The Trip” will take you on a hilarious culinary tour with Steve Coogan, who visited the finest restaurants of England as part of a tour organized by The Observer with his best friend and source of eternal aggravation, Rob Brydon. An engaging discussion will follow.
Saturday, October 15
6:00 p.m.: “Chef” tells the story of a cook who loses his restaurant job and starts up a food truck in an effort to reclaim his creative promise while trying to piece his estranged family back together. The movie will be followed by a discussion with German Chef Bernd Arold, who will lead two cooking sessions during the weekend.
Sunday, October 16
5:30 p.m.: This is the big day! The Opening Night will bring together our community to celebrate World Food Day with an evening full of surprises. The lobby of (bldg. 20) will be transformed into a bustling market featuring a special cocktail reception and engaging booths centered around the theme of food. An exhibition featuring markets from around the world by KAUST photographers is sure to be one of the highlights of the night.
6:30 p.m.: An exceptional concert by Turkish-European Pera Ensemble, who will perform a fusion of traditional music from east and west, in the Auditorium (bldg. 20).
