Facilities & Community invites you to participate in World Environment Day TODAY, June 5. The global theme for 2013 is “Think, Eat, Save”, which is an anti-food waste and food loss campaign to encourage the world to reduce their global “foodprint.”

According to the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), a third of global food production is either wasted or lost every year. Similarly, according to United Nations Environmental Program (UNEP), global food production uses 25% of all habitable land and is responsible for 70% of fresh water consumption, 80% of deforestation, and 30% of greenhouse gas emissions.

Please join us for a demonstration by chefs on how to be SMART and GREEN in the kitchen. The demonstration will show you how to cook creatively with less, in addition to how to organize your refrigerator smartly and reduce food waste.

Location: Multipurpose Room at Discovery Square
Date: Wednesday, June 5, 2013
Time: 7:00 – 9:00 p.m.

Smart and green kitchen tips will be delivered by chefs in English and Arabic.
