HSE Road Safety update: changes to the use of micro-mobility on the Academic Campus

Last year, changes to the use of shared spaces on the Academic Campus were announced in a Lens Post. In light of the low level of compliance observed with the implemented changes, we want to remind our micro-mobility community about the changes in an effort to improve compliance.

While KAUST encourages the use of micro-mobility devices on campus, we rely on our community of micro-mobility users doing their part in Keeping KAUST Safe by using these devices only in authorized areas and operating them safely to avoid impacting pedestrians.

Electric-powered micro-mobility may only be ridden on the pathway behind Buildings 2 to 5, as shown on the map below. This area is well suited for riding and has access to academic buildings and access to the pathway from both entry points. Electric-powered micro-mobility may only be used in other areas within the Academic Campus when in human-powered mode.

If you see something, say something

Any member of our community who notices irresponsible use of micro-mobility devices is encouraged to report the incident immediately to the Security team for investigation by completing the Traffic Complaint form. A new function on MyGA under “Traffic Violations” has been introduced, providing a direct link to the Traffic Complaint form.
