KAUST Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Department in collaboration with the KAUST School (TKS) is excited to introduce a unique biodiversity community engagement project, “Bug Hotels,” as a part of its DIY Biodiversity Series.
“Bug Hotels” are miniature habitats designed to attract and provide shelter for a wide variety of pollinators and insects, which play a pivotal role in maintaining ecological balance, nurturing healthy ecosystems, and promoting overall well-being in our natural world. These charming bug abodes come in various shapes and sizes, creating a welcoming environment for bees, butterflies, ladybugs, and other essential creatures that contribute to the thriving biodiversity on our campus.
This DIY video will serve as a step-by-step guide for creating your very own Insect Hotel. It’s a fantastic opportunity for students, and community members to get hands-on and contribute to the conservation of our local environment.
The “Bug Hotels” project is more than just a creative endeavor; it’s a symbol of KAUST’s dedication to the conservation and appreciation of the unique ecosystems surrounding the university. By providing a haven for these tiny but essential creatures, KAUST aims to promote ecological education, foster a sense of community involvement, and make a positive impact on the environment.
