In addition to the many after-school programs offered by (and at) The KAUST School, KEY (KAUST Enrichment for Youth) is also offering several extra-curricular enrichment programs in 2023. For more information or to register, please e-mail key@kaust.edu.sa (stating the program/s below).

FRONTIERS FOR YOUNG MINDS

A partnership between Frontiers for Young Minds, UNDP Saudi Arabia, KAUST Office of Sustainability, KEY and TKS, this program explores the world of research writing for children. The group gets to review research papers written by KAUST faculty/researchers for a young audience, and will also create podcasts and interviews with the authors. This program is offered to students in Elementary, Middle and High school and will commence w/c September 3.

INTRODUCTION TO TOURISM & HOSPITALITY

In partnership with the Ministry of Tourism, we are excited to launch a new program – to provide an introduction to the tourism and hospitality industries. This 9-week after-school program is offered to students in Grade 10, 11 and 12 who might be considering a career in these industries. The first program will commence w/c September 3.

MATE-ROV (Underwater Robotics)

After a hugely successful first year for TKS – winning the Regional MATE-ROV competition hosted here at KAUST, and then attending the World MATE-ROV competition in Denver, Colorado, our colleagues in Core Labs and the University students will continue to offer this program in partnership with TKS. MATE-ROV is offered to Grade 5-Grade 12 students. This program has exciting growth plans for the 2023/2024 school year – both within KAUST and nationally in the Kingdom.

MUSIC PROGRAM

Our Music Tutor, Fernando Fracassi, is returning to KAUST for the new school year. Fernando is a certified music teacher with master’s degrees in Music Performance and Pedagogy. He will provide music lessons on flute, guitar (acoustic and electric), electric bass, keyboard, drums, recorder, percussion, singing and music theory. There are limited spaces still available in the schedule.

TUTORING

The KEY Tutoring Program continues to be very popular, and we now have 80+ qualified and active KAUST tutors. The tutors currently offer support in math, languages (English, Arabic, French, Spanish), and the sciences. They can also offer support for SAT and Qudurat preparation. KEY is also now working with the Family & Child Support Center to identify additional support needs that tutoring can meet. We will continue to grow and develop this program based on demand.

MATH LIVE

Continuing our partnership with Po-Shen Loh and the Math LIVE team, parents and students can now access a wide range of online and self-paced Math courses directly from Math LIVE – starting with the basics and exploring algebra, geometry, combinatrics, and number theory. The Math LIVE team use a revolutionary new format to deliver online math courses that are fun, interactive, and engaging. These programs were extremely popular with our KAUST parents and students in the last school year.
