7:00 – 8:30 p.m.
Community Hub, Discovery Square

One of the secrets to having a successful garden at KAUST is understanding the best ways to use fertilizers – what type and when to use them.

Please join the next meeting of the KAUST Garden Society to learn more about the use of fertilizers in our private gardens and some innovative garden-related KAUST projects.

The society has arranged some great speakers for the evening, and there will be time for questions and discussion.

The meeting is free and open to anyone, so please join us!

Dr. Mitchell Morton with Edama Organic Solutions will talk about composting at KAUST.

Edama Organic Solutions is a KAUST-based start-up that has built and begun operating a composting facility to transform all of KAUST’s organic waste into high-value soil improvers. Edama leverages its strong scientific capabilities and KAUST’s world-class research facilities to develop composting processes and products tailored to local feedstocks and the needs of local soils.

This talk will describe Edama’s composting process, products, and how the KAUST community can find and use our products.

Kennedy Odokonyero, a postdoctoral scholar from Himanshu Mishras group, will talk about a KAUST invention Magic Sand  that keeps the soil moist. He will explain how the SandX mulching technology could reduce water consumption in gardening.

Kaust gardeners Arnab Pain and Lama Peyroles will share their in-depth gardening knowledge. Such as their personal experiences with fertilizers and offer advice on growing flowers and vegetables in your garden.
