You are invited to the first seminar of the Spring 2022 Sustainability Seminar Series, entitled “Powering a Green Future: From Aspirations to Reality” by KAUST Professor, Bassam Dally.

Abstract

In this seminar, Professor Bassam is going to discuss the widening gap between the aspirational targets of carbon neutrality by 2050 and reality on the ground. He is going to talk about current impediments and constraints, and discuss measures to overcome them. In particular, he is going to discuss the concept of integrated solutions for cost-effective decarbonization.

About the speaker

Professor Bassam Dally is a Professor of Mechanical Engineering and a member of the Clean Combustion Research Center at KAUST. He also a co-lead of the Cross-Cutting theme in KAUST’s Circular Carbon Initiative. Over the last 30 years, Professor Dally has contributed seminal work on energy related topics, including combustion, alternative fuels, concentrated solar, tidal, and hybrid solutions. Prof Dally’s recent work is focused on developing low carbon technologies targeting heavy industry. His work was published in more than 300 papers and was cited more than 8000 times. He won many awards over the years, including ‘Energy Professional of the Year in South Australia’, and a Fellowship of the Combustion Institute among others.
