Tour of Pressure Drop Vessel

On February 26-27, renowned extreme explorer Victor Vescovo will visit KAUST with his newly refitted scientific research vessel. Mr. Vescovo is the first person in history to have been to the top of all the world’s continents as well as the bottom of all its oceans. His momentous and daring Five Deeps Expedition accomplished the first manned descent to the deepest points of each of the world’s five oceans.

Mr. Vescovo’s Deep Submergence Vehicle (DSV) Limiting Factor is the only human-occupied vessel that can visit any place in our oceans at any depth and from virtually any properly equipped ship. With unique permission from the Royal Court of Saudi Arabia, he will pilot Limiting Factor on a marine research exploration to the Red Sea’s Kebrit Deep, Atlantis Deep and Suakin Deep. Accompanied by KAUSTresearchers and supported by the Coastal and Marine Resources Core Lab, Mr. Vescovo will set the record for the deepest manned submersible dive in the Red Sea.

Please join us for a talk by Mr. Vescovo, in which he will speak about his motivations, recent adventures, scientific discoveries and their implications for humanity. A tour of his Deep Sea Support Vessel Pressure Drop, complete with supporting facilities and the record-breaking Limiting Factor submersible, will follow.

Please email CMOR@kaust.edu.sa to register, as seating is limited.
