March 2-4, 2020
Level 0, lecture hall between Al-Jazri and Al Kindi (bldgs. 4 & 5)

This conference is aimed at providing an exceptional forum for top scientists to discuss high-impact research topics related to advanced materials science with specific emphasis on potential solutions for energy-intensive separations in the context of energy security and environmental sustainability. The topics of the conference will focus on recent developments pertaining to the use of membranes and porous materials in KAUST’s core research thrusts of Energy and Environment, whilst the sessions will be organized around the following topics:

  • Academic perspectives on petrochemical separations
  • Tools for advancing the discovery and deployment of separating agents
  • Global industrial needs in context of petrochemical separations

The AMPM center focuses to develop cutting edge porous materials, synthetic membranes, and process technologies. This relates to our mission to substantially reduce costs and mitigate the environmental damage associated with the separation, purification, and conversion of petroleum & industrial commodities; activities which currently consume 45-55% of the global industrial energy.

We seek to achieve our mission by combining the expertise of both membranes and porous solid scientists; which itself makes us a unique center in the world.
