Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage

The Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage (SCTH) pays considerable attention to archaeological activities, as the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is home to thousands of archeological sites. These are considered as treasures of historical and cultural value.

SCTH has recently expanded its archaeological activities to include many pre-Islamic and Islamic sites. Currently more than 40 joint international missions are conducting survey and excavations across the Kingdom.

As a result, discoveries have been made in several locations, including the pre-Islamic oases of Tayma, Al-Ula, Dumat Al-Jandal and Najran. The most significant evidence of past human occupations will be presented during this presentation. In the aforementioned towns, archaeological research has revealed consecutive civilizations from Prehistory to the Late Islamic period.

Light refreshments will be served prior to the lecture at 5:00 p.m.
