Copyright Infringement Announcement

Recently, KAUST has been receiving notifications from several media organizations alleging that members of the KAUST community have infringed on the legal rights of these organizations by downloading and/or distributing copyrighted materials.

The fact that materials are posted on the Internet does not automatically mean that they are in the public domain or that they may be copied or distributed. Such materials, including music, movies, books, articles, and images, are generally protected by copyright laws in most countries. Like movies at the cinema, we have the right to view them, but not to copy them and distribute them to others.

Please ensure that you comply with the University’s Acceptable Use Policy when accessing KAUST’s electronic resources. In particular, you must not copy or distribute material unless you own the intellectual property rights, have explicit permission from the copyright owner or know that the material is in the public domain.

Regards,
The Information Security Department
