KAUST SAP Moves to the IBM Cloud this weekend

KAUST’s SAP business applications are moving to the IBM SAP Cloud in Germany from Friday, January 8 to Monday, January 11.

After the move everything will continue to work there exactly as it does here at KAUST today. During the move SAP will not be available for use.

This move has been initiated for several reasons: reduced operational/capital cost, more data center space at KAUST for research computers/data storage and increased redundancy for a broader disaster recovery capability than we have today.

When the move is completed (as early as Sunday morning 8 a.m. January 10) you will log on just as you do today and you will be automatically connected over our 10GB link all the way to SAP’s new home in Germany.

We apologize for the time that SAP will not be available for use but it is required to make sure every transaction and every program is properly moved and tested before bringing SAP back up for normal use.

If you have any questions regarding this project, please call the IT Help Desk at 808-0900.
