Commencement 2013

Dear KAUST Community,

I hope you share my excitement for our graduating students as Commencement approaches. The Class of 2013 will receive recognition for their hard work and accomplishments at the Commencement Ceremony on Saturday, December 14. This event marks a new beginning – a new phase in our graduates’ lives as well as a new relationship with their alma mater as valued alumni.

This is a very big day for these students and for KAUST, and I look forward to joining the KAUST community in celebrating these achievements. Our graduating students represent a generation of scientists and engineers who will advance knowledge, benefit society, and continue to elevate KAUST as a global research institution. The Kingdom and the world will benefit from such a group of men and women who can inspire, discover, and make a difference.

I know that many families of our graduates will be visiting KAUST over the next week. For many, this will be their first time at KAUST. Please extend your welcome to our visitors for this momentous occasion.

To the Class of 2013: your families and friends, your professors, our trustees, our staff, and the entire KAUST community are proud of you. Congratulations!

Yours in discovery,

Jean-Lou Chameau
