Security alert: Action required for AnyDesk Users

To all KAUST users, 

We are issuing this advisory in response to a recent security incident reported by AnyDesk, a widely used remote desktop application within our network. While AnyDesk has successfully addressed and contained the issue, ensuring the safety of their service, we are taking precautionary steps to further protect our community.

Immediate actions for AnyDesk users:

  • Reset your AnyDesk password: as a preventive measure, all users are advised to promptly update their AnyDesk passwords.
  • Secure your KAUST account: if your AnyDesk password is identical or similar to your KAUST password, please change it immediately using our self-service portal at mypassword.kaust.edu.sa.

The Information Security Team encourages all users to practice good password hygiene, such as using unique passwords for different services and updating them regularly.
