The Imaging and Characterization Core Lab (IAC) Optical Microscopy Unit is hosting a one-week course on the fundamental principles of optical microscopy for KAUST students, postdoctoral researchers and research associates. The course offers an opportunity to gain comprehensive knowledge and practical skills in optical microscopy techniques.
Attendees will participate in engaging sessions designed to enhance their understanding of optical microscopy. The course includes two theory lectures each morning from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by an afternoon practical session from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Afternoon practical session spots are limited due to equipment and instructor availability, but morning lectures are open to all. Indicate your preference when registering.
During the course, participants will explore a broad range of topics, including:
- Image formation in the microscope
- Sample preparation for fluorescence microscopy
- Fluorescence microscopy
- Confocal microscopy
- Digital imaging
- Basic image data analysis
Applications, such as spatially distributed -omics, will also be discussed.
To secure a spot, register for the course in advance. Additional details on the topics covered are available upon registration.
