We will be gathering in Discovery square CIC at 2 pm today, Wednesay, to specifically discuss the issue of Makkah/Madinah Bus schedule. Anyone who has concerns, please join. Thank you.
For Gray bus, between stations 16 and 17, could you add one more station around stop 2? Thank you very much.
From the previous comments on Makkah and Madinah buses and this notification, it seems that you are determined to introduce the new schedule of the buses. Then what is the need of taking feedback when you are only going to clarify your point not to modify the schedule?
Still my suggestions/requests are
1. Instead of applying new schedule, revert back to the original one. Everyone is ok with shift of Thursday to Saturday, and make bus on every 2nd and 4th Friday. And run them as usual.
2. If you are restricting the buses than restrict them to 2 not 1.
3. If you are introducing the reservation system than please take care of the people who are involved in the research specially Researchers (Scientist, postdocs, PhDs………..). They are not always sure of their availability 5-10 days before because of their running experiments. If they came to know on Thursday that they free on this weekend, I’m sure they will get the space one day before because of the over-loading. If they book in advance and on the last day they were unable to go because of their experiment, then they will definitely compromise with the booking not the research. So please consider these points for the researchers as their research is important for the university, for the kingdom and as a whole for the humanity and the whole world.
4. You always modify the schedule for the convenience of the people travelling. Changing the drop and pick up point from Haram to Masjid Aisha is definitely convenient for someone. May be for the driver on the inconvenience of 50 people in the bus.
Totally agree with this points.
1. Q&A sessions.. If implementation of the new route are already in place (May 30 & 31).
2. Community buses .. Adding stops on the existing route will increase the travel time from/to home/work and around KAUST. Add some bus routes and reduce the existing stops to 12 instead of 19/20 stops.
Thank you transportation for holding this Q&A session. The FIVE people you said are the ONLY ones having issues were the representatives of plenty of others who for one reason or the other couldnt make it to the session. I seriously hope you are not expecting the whole community to show up and say…”WE DONT AGREE WITH ONLY ONE BUS RULE FOR MAKKAH AND MADINA AND WE WANT THE PREVIOUS PICKUP AND DROPOFF AT MAKKAH”
If that is what is being expected than go ahead and implement your new schedule which many of us think you will anyways.
I would like to highlight from the new schedule and comments of so many people on the other post.
1. Please apply back-up bus(es) for trip to Makkah and Madina. I don’t agree with only one bus rule.
2. For Makkah route, please revert back the drop off and pick up point to Haram. If not, would appreciate for any integrated solution to transport passenger from Tan’im to Haram (e.g contract with SAPTCO).
Dear Transportation team,
Please allow TWO buses this time for Medina until the booking system is implemented, because many people already booked their hotels before the new schedule was announced.
