Keeping KAUST Safe

Dear KAUST community,

The Government of Saudi Arabia has introduced a series of new public safety measures in recent days in response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The details of these new measures can be viewed here.

We are studying the new measures and will assess whether we need to make changes to the Keeping KAUST Safe guidelines here. Therefore, the KAUST community is encouraged to remind themselves of the national guidelines and adhere to the Keeping KAUST Safe requirements.

Additionally, the Ministry of Health (MoH) now requires everyone to download and register on the Tawakkalna app, which is the official MoH app for helping restrict the COVID-19 virus. Therefore, we would also ask that KAUST community members now register on the Tawakkalna app to assist the national pandemic response.

At this time, we are also encouraging the KAUST community to exercise their personal judgement when choosing to travel off campus and to minimize doing so as much as possible. We must continue to work together to help limit the transmission of COVID-19. We recognize that re-introducing movement restrictions is a hardship, but our community’s responsible approach to date has been highly effective in keeping us all safe.

The community is encouraged at this critical juncture to join in national efforts to control the virus and Keep KAUST Safe. The KC3 will continue to monitor announcements from the government and will continue to engage the community on further measures to help contain COVID-19, as required.

Yours,
Tony F. Chan
President
