Zoom 5.0 – Update today!

The Information Technology Department would like to inform the Community that Zoom 5.0 is now available! Update now to benefit from advanced security enhancements such as support for AES 256-bit GCM encryption, which provides added protection for meeting data and greater resistance to tampering.

Here are 6 things you should know about Zoom 5.0:

  1. Enhanced encryption AES-256 GCM. This will increase protection for meeting and data resistance against tampering, read more here.
  2. Security button to control your meeting, read more here.
  3. Statistics page: a new encryption shield icon appears in the upper left of your Zoom Meeting window and indicates secure, encrypted meeting. When you click on the icon this will open the statistics page for additional security details.
  4. Enhancements to ending/leaving meetings.
  5. Cloud recording security: Admins and meeting hosts can set expirations on their cloud recordings and can disable the sharing of their recordings.
  6. Be sure you update before entering a meeting! If you or anyone connecting to your meeting has not updated to the latest Zoom client, they will need to update before joining the meeting.
