Join us for the Lunar New Year Celebration: Year of the Dragon

Join us for an exciting night of culture, tradition and celebration as the KAUST Chinese community, with the support of Community Life and Graduate Affairs, invites you the Lunar New Year celebration. 

The Lunar New Year, also known as the Spring Festival, is a major cultural event celebrated in many Asian countries. The Lunar New Year is a time for families to come together, share meals, exchange gifts and honor their ancestors. Each year is associated with one of the 12 animals in the Chinese zodiac, and the year of the dragon is considered the most important.  

Program details 

  • Location: Discovery Square
  • 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. | Activities and games  

    Participate in traditional activities such as calligraphy, the traditional Chinese art technique of stone rubbing, and writing Lunar New Year wishes. There will also be a photo-booth with traditional outfits and games such as Pitch Pot and Touch the 福. 
  • 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. | Performances 

    Enjoy a variety of Lunar New Year-themed performances and the most-awaited Chinese dragon performance.  

    Please note the prayer break is at 7:42 p.m.

Will there be food trucks or restaurant booths? it is not mentioned? Any vegetarian or vegan food possible?

It will be in Discovery Square and all restaurants will be open. Please check the restaurant menus for vegan and vegetarian options – https://communitylife.kaust.edu.sa/services/food-retail
