Important: Secure Remote Work Tips

The Information Security Department encourages the KAUST community to adhere to best practices when working out of office to ensure the protection of KAUST data and devices.

What is the risk?

Working remotely or while travelling may expose your devices and information to increased security risks, such as unsecured networks, unattended devices, or phishing attempts.

What do you need to do?

To help maintain a secure working environment, please follow the guidelines below:

  • You should always connect to KAUST resources using the Cisco Secure Client VPN and avoid using public Wi-Fi without secure protection.
  • You should lock your screen whenever you step away from your device.
  • You should always keep your devices with you or store them securely, and you should never leave them unattended.
  • You should remain vigilant against suspicious or urgent-looking requests, especially those received via email.
  • You should immediately report any lost devices or suspicious emails to AskInfoSec@KAUST.edu.sa.

Security is a shared responsibility and remains essential at all times, regardless of location.
