Join us for a keynote exploring one of the most significant upcoming astronomical events to occur over the Kingdom.

The Winter Enrichment Program (WEP) 2026 welcomes Alexandra Lockwood, director of strategic development at Computational Physics Inc., as she discusses a total solar eclipse that will pass over western Saudi Arabia, including KAUST, on August 2, 2027.

Drawing on her experience leading eclipse preparations at NASA, Lockwood will examine the science and safety of eclipses, their cultural significance, and the planning required to support scientific discovery and increased tourism during this rare event.
