Vacation Reminder for KAUST Residents

If you are planning vacation leave, here are a few simple tips to keep your house in good condition and protect your valuables while you are away:

    • Close the domestic water supply main valve to ensure no water leaks from the internal plumbing system:
  1. Harbor apartments – located in the ceiling above the corridor
  2. Garden / Island houses – located outside
  • Leave the air conditioning on ‘auto’ and set it to 24°C (75.2°F) to avoid condensation and prevent the formation and growth of mold
  • Switch off the electrical circuit breaker for the water heater inside the distribution board panel (houses and villas) to prevent any excessive temperature and pressure buildup in the water heater tank
  • Leave floor drains in all wet areas uncovered, including toilets, kitchen, wash room, laundry room and water heater room (if applicable) to prevent instances of flooding in the event of a water leak inside the unit
  • Make certain that all doors, windows and curtains are closed to avoid condensation buildup inside the unit
  • Lock and secure the roof access
  • Make arrangements for the upkeep of your backyard as required by the KAUST Housing Agreement by calling 959 or by e-mailing gardening@kaust.edu.sa.

If you are having difficulty locating any of the features mentioned above within your unit, please contact  Housing Services at 012 808 6555 / 6505 or e-mail us at Housing@kaust.edu.sa. You may also contact Maintenance via the KAUST Helpdesk by dialing 959.

Remember, protecting your possessions and your rented unit is your responsibility.

Your cooperation is highly appreciated.

Kind regards,
Housing Services
