3. Elevate electrical appliances and valuables: Place electronics and important documents on shelves or higher furniture. For homes in flood-prone areas, use waterproof containers for passports, university paperwork, and medical records.
4. Check your roof for cracks or loose tiles: KAUST Facilities Management offers roof inspections; schedule one if unsure or after recent storms. Damaged roof tiles can cause leaks—report any issues quickly so repairs are made before heavy rainfall.
5. Create a home emergency kit: Build your kit with flashlights, batteries, first aid supplies, and bottled water. KAUST recommends adding extra face masks, sanitizing gel, and printed emergency contacts for KAUST Security and Facilities. Store your kit where every family member can access it.
Let’s make home safety a priority. Share tips with neighbors during community gatherings and thank you for playing your part! For questions or support, contact hse@kaust.edu.sa
