The Science Crossroads Initiative (SCI) and the Office of the Arts are co-sponsoring a lecture given by KAUST Professor David Keyes, entitled, “Writing Verse as Constrained Optimization,” together with a concert, “A Lyrical Journey Through Jazz: Original songs by Mavis Pan and David Keyes.” Composer and jazz pianist Mavis Pan will join lyricist Professor Keyes on stage performing with the KAUST Chorus and other KAUST musicians.
About the Science Crossroads Initiative:
Under the umbrella of the BESE division, the Science Crossroads Initiative aims to introduce the KAUST community to a variety of contemporary topics found at the intersection of science and other disciplines, such as philosophy, history, and the arts. Through seminars and other activities, SCI aims to encourage thinking beyond one’s personal areas of expertise and nourish curiosity about how science ventures work and what these mean in our society.
