The Magic of the Pyramids and the Secrets of Tut and the Royal Mummies

In his lecture, world-renowned Egyptian archaeologist Dr. Zahi Hawass will explain how the Great Pyramid of Khufu was built, and will describe a robot’s journey inside the pyramid to search for secret doors. He will also discuss the discovery of the Tombs of the Nobles west of the Great Pyramid, and will examine the “riddle of the Sphinx” through an explanation of radar and drilling exploration under the Sphinx. He will describe his discoveries around the pyramids and the Sphinx and reveal results of CT scans and DNA analysis of Tut and the discovery of his family.

The lecture will also include an analysis of how the first pyramid was built and discussion about pyramid development throughout history, including the development of the new pyramids found at Giza and Saqqara, as well as the beautifully decorated tombs that were also found. Dr. Hawass will also describe the important discovery of the tombs of the workmen who built the pyramids.

Dr. Hawass received his PhD from the University of Pennsylvania in 1987. He studied there as a Fulbright Fellow.

Since 1968, he has served as Inspector of Antiquities in Egypt. In 1978 he became Director of the Pyramids, and in 2002 became the Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities. From 2010-2011, Dr. Hawass served as the First Minister of State for Antiquities.

Dr. Hawass is known for his charisma and his ability to reach out to the public, raising awareness of archaeology and the preservation of Egypt’s heritage. He has been given five honorary doctorates from different international universities.
