Be part of the Graduate Student-led Green Group campaign “Say NO to Plastic Bags” by participating in two exciting events!
Wednesday, September 7
5:00 – 7:00 p.m.
Tamimi Supermarket
From 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., we will be at the entrance of Tamimi Supermarket enlightening the community on the environmental issues caused by plastic pollution and encouraging people to play their parts in reducing plastic waste.
7:00 – 9:00 p.m.
Discovery Square
From 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., join us for the screening and discussion of “Bag It,” at the Discovery Square Theater to learn more about the effects of plastic bags on land and marine environments, as well as on the human body.
These events are organized by the Green Group, a graduate student group sponsored by Graduate Affairs and KAUST Sustainability.

This is a great initiative!
But we should also convince Tamimi to stop using styrofoam containers and trays. Compostable alternatives exist but are expensive. So an even better solution would be to let us bring our own reusable containers.
They could weigh it in a washable tray and then pour/place the food in our container and place the price label on it. 🙂
They would also be saving a lot of money.
Food for thought!
