Gel Permeation Chromatography Training Course

The Analytical Core Lab is offering a basic training course on the use and application of Gel Permeation Chromatography (GPC). GPC is one of the most widely employed techniques for characterizing macromolecules. This short course will focus on the use of GPC for the determination of molecular weight distributions of polymers. Participants will be introduced to the background and practice of GPC as well as important practical considerations and typical applications. The hands-on session will feature practical demonstration of instrument operation.

Saturday March 24
Ibn Sina Building (building 3), level 3, room 3320

Course Outline:

  • What is GPC? (Introduction/Technique Description as well as Historical Background and Developments)
  • Theory and Practice of GPC (Separation Mechanism, Basic Instrumentation, and Data Handling and Information Obtained)
  • Practical Considerations (Method Optimization and Sample Preparation)
  • Typical Applications
  • Hands-on Session
