Frisbee "Tricksters" from TKS Win Prize in Qatar Sports Film Festival

Impressive frisbee skills may not be part of the curriculum at The KAUST Schools (TKS), but that hasn’t stopped TKS students Colin Herrington and Dylan Finol from learning some amazing frisbee tricks while living at KAUST.

Colin and Dylan showcased their skills at the recent Qatar Sports Film Festival in a short film they produced, “Frisbee Trick Shots.” The film won third place at the festival and the two took home a cash prize of QR6,000.

“Going in to the competition we didn’t expect to win. Considering we were the only kids in the competition, and we went up against some really experienced people, I feel like this is a big step for Colin and I. We are very glad that we got to take part in the sports film festival and hopefully we can accomplish even more with frisbee trick shots in the future.” shared Dylan.

Colin commented, “I think Dylan and I have come a long way since we published our first video about a year ago. We have been republished onto Brodie Smith’s Youtube channel (pro ultimate player and original trick shotter) and now we have won 3rd place in the Qatar sports film festival. We plan to make even more trick shot videos and hopefully all this recognition will help us in the years to come.”

The Qatar Sports Film Festival, the first of its kind in the region, concluded yesterday at Alriwaq Doha Exhibition space. The two-day event was organised by The Youth Company, a social enterprise for youth development, and the Qatar Olympic & Sports Museum, under the patronage of FICTS (Fédération Internationale Cinéma Télévision Sportifs). Its objective was to promote the art of screenwriting and filmmaking in the world of sports and the Olympics, while also encourage the engagement with sports and a healthy lifestyle.
