Registration is now open for the August–October Art Club Workshop series through the KAUSTCentral app.
The Art Club offers a variety of classes and provides access to the Art and Ceramic Studios at the Island Recreation Club (IRC), where members can develop their skills, attend workshops, and work on personal projects.
Workshop schedule
Sundays: Oil painting | Starts August 30
Learn classical oil painting techniques from a very experienced art teacher, for beginners, intermediate and advanced painters.
Mondays: Acrylic painting | Starts August 31
Learn how to paint with acrylic paints, similar to painting with oil paint, but a lot less difficult because you don’t have to wait for it to dry.
Tuesdays: Ceramics | Starts August 25
Learn to throw pots on a pottery wheel, and how to hand-build pinch pots, coil pots and slab pots, and glazing techniques.
Tuesdays: Arabic Calligraphy | Starts August 25
Explore the history, techniques, and various script styles to compose your own calligraphic designs. You will also learn the cultural and aesthetic significance of Arabic calligraphy in all its locations, but especially in Islamic mosques.
Wednesdays: Charcoal, graphite and watercolor | Starts August 26
Learn basic drawing techniques using pencil, charcoal, black-line pen, combined with watercolour painting.
Saturdays: Kids Art (start on August 29)
Designed for children in K1–Grade 5.
