Enrichment in the Spring 2017: Pioneers Join us for the Opening Night!

After a weekend full of activities, including the Film Festival “Pioneers through the Ages” and the community project around the art workshop “Pioneering Plastic Painting,” the Opening Night will launch three days of exceptional events in the Conference Center (building 19) and the Auditorium (building 20). Don’t miss it: register now!

Following a presentation of the program by KAUST Professor Gilles Lubineau, chair of Enrichment Programs, and Marie-Laure Boulot, a unique musical performance will kick off the week.

The Saudi singer Abdulrahman Mohammed will be accompanied by three musicians from Tunisia (Ghassen Fendri, Omar Kasraoui and Skander Ben Abid) and will perform different acoustic music styles combined with Arabic heritage love lyrics and poems as well as well-known Arabic covers in his improvisational jazz style.

Three unique exhibitions (starting at 6:30 p.m.) will showcase the heritage of Saudi Arabia:
  • The Celebrate Saudi Arabia Art Competition is an opportunity to see the country through the eyes of KAUST community members; more than 50 works of art will be on display in the Conference Center (building 19).
  • Exploring the Empty Quarter: a sample of the Wilfred Thesiger collection from the Pitt Rivers Museum in the Auditorium’s (building 20) lobby. Photographs will be available for sale. Make sure you visit the exhibition.
  • 1000 Days at KAUST showcases a timeline of the different construction stages that transformed bare desert land to one of the world’s youngest universities.

Don’t forget to bring your Film Festival pass stamped (you need to see at least three movies) to get a chance to win a restaurant voucher.

Come and relax in an Arabic lounge-style atmosphere and enjoy the cocktail reception to follow.

Keynote speakers’ books will be available for sale.

Nanny services are available for children from 3 to 8 years old.
