The Office of the Arts invites community members to join one (or all!) of our three music groups: the Angklung Ensemble, the Orchestra and the Chorus. Rehearsals just started for this season but it is certainly not too late to join!
The Angklung Ensemble rehearses on Sunday evenings from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. in building 20.
The angklung is a traditional Indonesian musical instrument made of bamboo tubes, each with a different pitch, that are attached to a frame. A complete song with harmonies is created by shaking the tubes together. All musical levels, including complete beginners, are welcome.
The Orchestra rehearses on Monday evenings from 6:15 to 8:00 p.m. in building 20.
The Orchestra is made up of individuals with previous experience in playing an instrument. In some cases, we can provide an instrument for your use. Should you be interested, please do not hesitate to contact us at officeofthearts@kaust.edu.sa to schedule an informal interview.
The Chorus rehearses on Tuesday evenings from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. in building 20.
Complete beginners, as well as those who have some prior knowledge of music reading, are welcome. Do not hesitate to reach out, the main objective is the enjoyment of singing in an ensemble!
