We venture to the high seas for tonight’s keynote, with a joint keynote lecture from
Professor Carlos Duarte of the Malaspina 2010 Circumnavigation Expedition, Dr. Eric Karsenti of the TARA OCEANS expedition and Professor Francis Waldvogel of MS Tûranor PlanetSolar. Join them and witness how their global explorations are driving a wave of new discoveries on the oceans.
We also open new exhibitions today: Head to the Building 16 lobby at midday for the opening of “Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholder,” an exhibition that compares and contrasts the photographic approaches of scientists and non-scientists from our community. At the library this evening we open Discover Saudi Arabia: “Experience Asir,” an exhibition that looks at the rich architecture, art and culture of the Asir region.
Finally, look out for our afternoon lecture on The Algae House, a remarkable German project that uses biomass built into the walls of a building to create clean energy.
