Are you knowledgeable about sound waves, Lord of the Rings, or the French Revolution?
These are just a few of the topics that Grade 11 and 12 students need your help!
As part of a requirement to graduate, The KAUST School (TKS) Grade 11 and 12 students are looking for people who can be interviewed or consulted for their Extended Essay. For this project, each student has to research a topic of their choice and submit a 4000 word essay on their findings. In the research process, access to people who can be interviewed or consulted is highly valued by the panel of examiners who grade the final work. No matter how small your contribution, your support will make a difference in their reasearch process and ultimately, their high school degree.
Some topics include:
- How does the tension and temperature of guitar strings affect the frequency of sound waves picked up by a piece of equipment?
- How has the population of sharks in the Red Sea been affected by humans in the last 20 years?
- To what extent does the resistivity of a battery affect its durability in everyday usage?
- How do the poems in Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings associate with the context and themes of the books?
- To what extent was the American Revolution of 1775-83 a catalyst for the French Revolution of 1787-99?
- What is the effectiveness of natural antibiotics compared to synthetic drugs?
- In what ways did Churchill have a positive effect on Great Britain’s involvement in World War II?
- How does KAUST affect economic growth?
To learn more details about this project as well as the full list of topics, join us at the Partners for Learning evening at Garden Secondary School on Wednesday, February 26 between 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. Details of the process will be presented and thoroughly explained. All you have to do is share which topic you would be willing to assist with and then we will put you in touch with the corresponding student.
