Biography

Dr. Adelina Braun holds a Master of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Chemical Technology and Metallurgy in Sofia, Bulgaria. She was awarded the title Doctor of Engineering in Material Science for her work on “Transparent alumina ceramic by means of electrophoretic deposition for optical applications” at the department of Glass and Ceramic from Saarland University, Germany. Dr. Braun has a strong research and technical background in material science and engineering namely expertise in nanoparticle characterization, functionalization and colloidal processing as well as sintering of nanocomposites. She was a project manager of a subproject of the European Regional Development Funds program “NanoBio transfer region Saarland.”

Braun joined the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre, Institute for Reference Materials and Measurements (IRMM), Reference Materials Unit in Geel, Belgium. She has the world’s first certified reference material based on 20 nm real-world, industry-sourced nanoparticles. She joined Sigma-Aldrich in 2014 as a specialist for the “Aldrich Material Science strategic technology initiative” providing technical expertise in the Organic and Printed Electronic Materials, Nanomaterials, Materials for Energy and Electronics, Biomaterials and Graphene for the EMEA region.
