Results of the Nature Conservation Area Photographic Competition

Recently Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Office organized a very successful photography competition as part of its efforts to protect and engage community on Nature Conservation Area at KAUST. In its commitment to nature and biodiversity, KAUST recently earmarked 152 hectares of coastal areas near King Abdullah Monument as nature conservation area. Participants of the photography competition were encouraged to highlight the biodiversity that exists in this special area.

Over 80 high quality entries for the competition were received, making it very difficult to select the winning entries. In the end, Marios Mantzourogianni‘s picture of a Crab Plover feeding on the mudflats was announced the winner of the adult competition because it illustrated biodiversity and with so visually sharp.

In the junior competition, Erica Li’s photograph of a Blue-spotted Ray partly hidden in the mangroves was declared a winner. Entries from Param Pagade and Amr Hassan also received special commendations from the judges.

HSE would like to thank all the entrants and commend their efforts. To see all entries of the competition, please click here.
