Island Recreation Club Arena Upgrade

Facilities & Community is pleased to announce the reopening of the Island Recreation Club Arena on Saturday, October 10 from 3:00 p.m.

What’s New?

  • A rock climbing wall suitable for beginners up to experienced rock climbers
  • Basketball hoops, automatic ceiling mounted competition standard hoops
  • New flooring and floor markings which allow for additional sports including volleyball, netball and indoor five-a-side football

To allow for same time multiple use within the arena, a state of the art movable sports hall rebound wall and divisional nets have also been installed.

Please can you confirm that there are netball nets and netballs to go with the floor markings?

Yes we have netball nets and we are waiting for new netball balls to arrive but we do have other balls that are suitable short term.

Dear Raye – for the time being instruction will be given on arrival at the Arena so bring the family and enjoy the climb. Please note the minimum age to use the climbing wall is 5 years.

So there is going to be a volleyball net as well ?

Yes there is going to be volleyball net etc. Volleyball court markings and floor supports have now been installed for the posts and net that was not in the original building design and build. Both the IRC & HSC Arenas now have the appropriate floor sockets installed so we can now offer volleyball as a activity.
