To complement the KAUST Sustainability Committee Eco-Cart pilot program (dedicated to reducing KAUST carbon footprint and introducing alternative transportation), Campus Support is pleased to announce Green Parking on campus.
There will now be dedicated parking and recharging points in the Campus South parking garage for electric vehicles only, please see the map below.
To accompany the Green Parking program, and to ensure community safety, Campus Support have also introduced a dedicated scooter bay in the Campus South parking garage (see map below).
A specific and dedicated parking area that will provide a safe and secure location for all community scooter users. Please note, current scooter bays in other parking areas will remain.

This is a great step. However, we need more parking spaces for cars in the first level. Why not let us park in the closed section of the garage. It would help us saving time to find a parking spot and also save on fuel pollution.
I totally agree with Ihab. There aren’t enough spaces for cars on level 1. Atleast digital spaces available sign should be installed to avoid car drivers going in circles on level 1 searching for parking spaces.
Dear Ihab & Raeece
Thank you for the taking the time to respond to our LENS post regarding car parking spaces within the Campus South parking garage. This initiative is a vital part of the pilot Eco-Cart project that has seen the distribution of 50 eco-carts to members of the KAUST community – some students, faculty, staff and family members will now be utilizing this alternative mode of transport. We appreciate that not all those who have taken up the offer of the eco-cart will drive them to work, but there are many who have. To this end their previously utilized car parking space is now an eco-space so there will be no reduction re: availability.
The university parking structure has two levels of parking and there is always plenty of parking spaces in level 0 and just one flight of stairs to level 1.
I have a private cart and I need to charge it in the allocated parking slots. The charging stations ask me to present a tag to be able to charge. How can we get that tag ? Thanks
Dear Ihab
Please contact Amr Atiah to obtain a tag for the campus charging points.
Kindest regards
Claire
