The documentary “Desert Seas” was created for National Geographic by Saudi Aramco and renowned Icon Films, creators of the hit series “River Monsters.” It uncovers the wonders of the Red Sea and the Arabian Gulf. This feature film was produced with support from the University’s Red Sea Research Center.
Showing on the same day is “Guardians of the Red Sea,” the story of the first-ever joint research project between KAUST and Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution and filmed during the fall of 2009. This screening is presented by Michael Berumen, KAUST associate professor of marine science and engineering. Berumen also served as one of the scientific advisors during the creation and production of the film. The screening is part of Orientation 2016 and is sponsored by Graduate Affairs.
