Budding Botticellis: A Taste of TKS Seniors' Art

This year, for the first time, The KAUST School presented the portfolio of seven seniors for the IB Diploma in Visual Arts, demonstrating their personal development over two years.

During that time, each student had to become familiar with art movements, concepts, criticism, and analysis. They had to develop their technical skills and experiment with a wide range of media.

For the Diploma, the students had to organize an exhibition of their studio work and every student had an individual interview with an IB examiner, who also examined the content of their research workbooks. The aim was to create a sufficient number of studio pieces to present a coherent body of artwork supported by a detailed explanation of the creative process. Students had also to learn to talk about their work in a confident and informed manner.

The KAUST School is proud to announce that the exam went really well. The examiner was impressed with the work exhibited. The standards set by this first group will have a very positive impact on the quality of work presented in the following years.

How can we get the stories behind each of these pieces of art? It would be nice to have a seminar in which each student discusses the story behind their work and the creative process they went through!
