WQTC best research paper award

Ph.D. candidate Joline El-Chakhtoura, from the Water Desalination and Reuse Center (WDRC), recently won the Best Research Paper award at the annual American Water Works Association’s Water Quality Technology Conference (WQTC) held in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Candidates were judged on both the quality of their research and the style of their presentation. Joline’s research is based on the biological stability of drinking water. Her research investigates bacterial dynamics during water treatment distribution using DNA sequencing. This research is a collaboration between KAUST and Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands.
