Designed to be the beating heart of the Winter Enrichment Program, the WEP Hub will keep you informed, connected, enriched and entertained every week day. The University Library will be transformed into a bustling hub to make your WEP experience even better.
At the Info Desk, a dedicated team will guide you through the multiple opportunities WEP 2017 offers, providing schedules, maps and gifts.
“WEP on Air” will connect the speakers and the KAUST Community twice a day through a daily morning and afternoon talk show broadcast on Facebook Live and on KAUST TV, providing an inspiring way to start your day at 8:45 a.m. and your afternoon at 1:30 p.m. Grab a free coffee and tea, ask questions and interact with the keynote speaker of the day.
“Create and Make” workshops provide activities designed around creation, engineering and science for a personal “pushing the limits” experience. Workshops are accessible through registration only, but many activities will be straight hands-on once you enter the space, such as LEGO challenges. The first week focuses on “Creation” and will feature LEGO bricks building, origami, Chinese painting and calligraphy, kinetic sculptures and ceramics, while the second week is an invitation to “make” with the basic concepts of the IoT, designs for 3-D printing, analog and digital electronics and the KAUST Research Poster Competition.
The two “Pop Up Exhibit” areas welcome great displays, and will feature “KAUST, an Oasis for Birds,” Chinese painting and calligraphy and the KAUST Research Poster Competition.
A successful WEP experience gives new connections and encounters, which is the purpose of “Link Up:” during lunchtime, people will have the opportunity to meet with the speakers and enjoy a free coffee.
The highlights of the week include: the Science Fair on Tuesday, January 17 from 12:00 p.m. onwards and the Boat Race in front of the University Library on Thursday, January 19 from 12:00 pm.
