WEP 2017 Opening Keynote with H.E. Ali Ibrahim Al-Naimi

WEP 2017
Opening Keynote with His Excellency Ali Ibrahim Al-Naimi
Sunday, January 8
Auditorium (bldg. 20) – 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.

His Excellency Ali Ibrahim Al-Naimi, former minister of oil in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, will comment on his forthcoming autobiography “Out of the Desert: My Journey from Nomadic Bedouin to the Heart of Global Oil.”

Ali Ibrahim Al-Naimi is the former Saudi oil minister and OPEC kingpin, a position he held for the two decades between August 1995 and May 2016.

He was born into extreme poverty as a nomadic Bedouin in the 1930s, just as U.S. companies were discovering vast quantities of oil under Arabian deserts. From his first job as a shepherd boy to his appointment to one of the most powerful political and economic jobs in the world, “Out of the Desert” charts Al-Naimi’s extraordinary rise to power.

Refreshments will be served before from 3:30 p.m. and a cocktail reception will take place after the keynote lecture.

H.E. Al-Naimi will also sign 50 copies of his book for attending guests after the Opening Keynote on a first-come, first-served basis, so don’t forget to bring your book with you.

Books will also be available for sale in the Auditorium (bldg. 20).
