WEP returns next year for three weeks from January 11 – 29, 2014. The WEP Committee is now accepting inspired ideas from the KAUST community to create a successful program.
Distinguished experts and leaders from around the world, region, and our University are invited to expand our intellectual horizons and stretch our collective imaginations. WEP offerings range from for-credit activities, such as a course on observational astronomy, a lecture on fuel and future impacts, to non-credit activities such as the 5K Fun Run.
Are you interested in teaching a class or proposing a non-KAUST instructor to conduct a seminar? Are you an individual (KAUST student/alumni/faculty/staff/community member), a KAUST department, a KAUST self-directed group, a KAUST division, or a KICP partner with a great idea for a WEP event?
If yes, choose the format of your activity: keynote lecture, lecture, course, workshop, seminar, field trip, or event. Then select the appropriate category: academic, entrepreneurial, skills, cultural, or recreational. Finally, submit your proposal here by April 26, 2013 May 3, 2013.
Of particular interest are proposals aimed at developing interdisciplinary activities to help create a sense of community at KAUST, fostering student-faculty-speaker interactions and offering short courses and seminars for credit. Proposals will be reviewed by the WEP Committee for their ability to enrich and broaden the knowledge and experience of KAUST graduate students as well as of the larger community. The cost effectiveness of the proposal will also be considered. The WEP Committee requires that the instructors or speakers know that they have been recommended to be part of WEP 2014 and that the applicant plays an active role with the speaker’s itinerary and introduces him/her during the event.
