About the AFL Grand Final
The Australian Football League (AFL) is Australia’s premier Australian rules football competition. The AFL Grand Final is the championship match played to determine the league’s premier at the end of the series.
The Grand Final has been played annually since 1898, except in 1924. Traditionally held on the last Saturday in September at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), it is one of the biggest events on the Australian sporting calendar, regularly attracting crowds of more than 100,000 and a television audience of millions.
