12:30 – 1:30 p.m.
Auditorium, level 2, Museum and Conference Center (bldg. 19)
A light snack will be served from 12:00 p.m.

Cities are growing, populations are increasing and competition continues for limited natural resources. Increasingly food-conscious consumers are demanding safe, local, high-quality food. Within this context, urban agriculture, a new industry, has emerged to meet these challenges. Ryan Lefers, a Ph.D. student in the KAUST Water Desalination and Reuse Center, will tell us why urban farming holds great promise to help the world achieve future food security.

During lunchtime at the Campus Diner, the Student Green Group campaign against food waste which will focus on being “storage savvy.” Participate in the ‘leftover challenge’ and be in with a chance of winning prizes.
